Abu Dhabi has its fair share of large supermarkets and hypermarkets. In the center of town, however, little markets like Airlines Foodstuff sell the very basics (fresh pita bread, milk, water, toiletries, canned goods, etc.). Most of these shops are tiny and hard to maneuver. It's not uncommon to wait for someone to leave so that you may enter and navigate your own shopping.
