Where NOT to Stay in Abu Dhabi

I arrived in August of 2008 and was placed in this particular block of serviced apartments. Basically, it was a full one-bedroom flat with daily maid service. Ideal, right? It was centrally located at the corner of Najda (6th) and Electra (7th) streets. It wasn't a 5 star set-up (not even a 4), but it did the job. It was fantastic until things started going missing. Items stolen from my hotel room included 2 bottles of wine and bathing suit bottoms...some other misc. 'bits and bobs' that never surfaced, either. The management of the hotel wasn't just in denial: they did absolutely nothing to accomodate me. No offer of discounted internet or perhaps a meal at their newly-opened restaurant. It was a joke. I realise that they couldn't prove that their cleaning staff had stolen the items nor could they replace the alcohol, but what about some attempt at good customer service? This was my refresher course in just how poor customer service in the region really is.

This place looks familiar, even though I've been away for quite some time, but this all sounds a bit creepy. Have you told your employer about it?

When I get to that area, I will avoid that hotel like the plague!
