Great photos - All I've seen of the UAS has been airports and views from a great height... But my sculptor son had a piece in a shopping mall on Dubai and has just completed one for Jeddah Universit (on my blogspot)so maybe I have an excuse to go and look.
I used to live in Khalidya. I wonder what nice old buildings they're going to tear down for this monstrosity. We've had friends with lovely old villas, hardwood floors, wood trim, built-ins that were old worldly and beautiful, and were torn down for newer versions.
I think this is part of the Shams development that's going to be on Reem Island..however, the way things are right now I don't think it's going to be built any time soon so don't hold your breath!
The 2 towers are called Sky Towers & the 4 smaller towers in the curve are The Gate - on Reem Island. Sky Towers is ahead of schedule but the Gate is behind (as far as I'm aware).

Shelagh:
Thanks for stopping by! I'd be very curious to know which sculpture your son has worked on. :)
No. Where are the trees? The grasshoppers?
Bet it's not dog friendly, either.
No, no, and no, Prospero. Definitely no dog-friendly on so many levels.
That has to be ne of the ugliest complexes I've seen. Soulless.

by the way this is meant to be errected in dubai - i dont think this is to be built in abu dhabi.
I think this is part of the Shams development that's going to be on Reem Island..however, the way things are right now I don't think it's going to be built any time soon so don't hold your breath!
